Dylan's 4th Race of the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series
Coulter Motorsports development driver Dylan Presnell competed in his fourth race of the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season Saturday at Iowa Speedway and earned a 19th-place finish.
Presnell, a sixteen-year-old from Sevierville, Tenn., is in his first year with Coulter Motorsports under the organization's driver development program. Presnell had a different look for Saturday's race, as he traded in his No. 26 for the No. 83 AmericanMountainRentals.com Chevrolet due to the event being a combined race of both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West.
The Graham Tire 150 marked Presnell's first start at Iowa Speedway - a .875-mile paved oval in Newton, Iowa. A mechanical failure dampened Presnell's qualifying run and he would be faced with the challenge of starting from the back of the pack in 29th place.
Presnell's bad luck followed him into the main event, as he battled an ill-handling car throughout the 150-lap event. His perseverance paid off in the end, however, as he was able to advance 10 positions from his starting place and bring home a 19th-place finish.
"It's unfortunate we didn't have luck on our side today, but 19th is better than last and it's a heck of a lot better than where we started," Presnell said. "We pushed through the battle and learned some things we can carry over into the rest of the season, so I'm excited and ready to get back out there and put this knowledge to work."
Presnell resume's his 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule with the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium on June 2.
